Day
1 Vancouver Arrival
Arrive in Vancouver for your overnight stay. Admission to The
Lookout atop Vancouver Harbour Centre is included.
Day
2 Vancouver to Kamloops
Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops
in British Columbia's interior. En route you will pass through
the fertile Fraser Valley and the Fraser Canyon. One of the Canyon's
true highlights is Hell's Gate where you will watch water torrent
past the Canyon's walls at its narrowest point. This is one of
the canyon's true natural treasures. Upon leaving the Fraser Canyon,
the train will follow the Thompson River to the city of Kamloops.
Overnight in Kamloops. Dinner is included at your Kamloops hotel.
Day
3 Kamloops to Banff
Continue your journey eastward onboard the Rocky Mountaineer to
the Canadian Rockies and the mountain resort of Banff. First,
you will travel through vast ranchlands to Shuswap Lake before
passing Craigellachie, where the "last spike" was driven
completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. Beyond Craigellachie
is Rogers Pass with tunnels, glistening glaciers, and snow capped
mountains. Before crossing over the Continental Divide into Banff
National Park, you will travel through the unique Spiral Tunnels
in Yoho National Park, a remarkable engineering achievement. As
we travel through the five mountain regions...the magic of the
Canadian winter abounds! Overnight in Banff.
Day
4 Exploring Banff National Park
Enjoy a free day exploring Banff National Park. Possible activities
include a Johnston Canyon ice walk, snow shoeing, skiing and wildlife
viewing. Overnight in Banff.
Day
5 Exploring Banff National Park
A second free day to enjoy Banff.
Day
6 Banff to Calgary
This morning vist the highlights of Banff townsite on a sightseeing
tour. Among the points of interest are visits to the Cave and
Basin Centre, Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. After
a stop for lunch (not included) there will be time to visit the
Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies before your afternoon transfer
to the "Stampede City" of Calgary. This evening a visit
to the Calgary Tower is included where you can view the city and
the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Overnight in Calgary.
